Precise 3 & 5 Axis
CNC Plastic Routing
Precision Trimming Services
Lane Company utilizes the latest state-of-the-art equipment and software to achieve highly-accurate trimming for cleanly finished parts. Our use of 3- and 5-axis CNC plastic routing ensures we provide a competitive, high-quality plastic solution every time.
Our Trimming Methods
3-Axis Cutting
3-axis CNC machining cuts a plastic piece across three planes to trim away excess material. 3-axis machining is commonly used in the creation of mechanical components, and is best suited for cutting sharp edges, milling slots, drilling holes, etc. We recommend this type of plastic routing for parts that do not require a high degree of depth and detailing.
5-Axis Cutting
In this type of machining, a plastic piece can be manipulated on five planes simultaneously — the X, Y, and Z axes used in 3-axis cutting, plus an additional two of three rotational axes. Lane Company utilizes our state-of-the-art 5-axis CNC machining equipment to increase productivity, accuracy and quality in the manufacturing of highly complex, intricate components.
Die-Cutting
Die-cutting is a trimming process used primarily on thin-gauge formed or flat parts. During die-cutting, the component or sheet is placed in a steel rule die and trimmed using downward pressure, also called “stamping.” Die-cutting reduces secondary trimming time, providing savings of both time and cost.
